BASTING STITCH
The basting stitch is the same as the Running Stitch, except that the thread above the fabric is longer than the thread below. This stitch is used to hold two pieces of fabric together temporarily, so that they won't shift while the real stitching is done. It works very quickly, and you don't need to tak care that the stitches are even, because you will be ripping the basting stitch out.
