This canvas stitch covers
an area with short vertical stitches.
The second row should
share holes with the first row. The entire area is covered
by rows of small vertical stitches. The effect is of narrow
horizontal stripes.
To vary the width of
the stripes, increase the length of the stitches to cover
more than 2 canvas threads.
Hints:
This is not a very good covering
stitch, because the canvas shows between the stitches.
The only way for this stitch to cover the canvas completely
is to use very thick and fluffy yarn.
Also, there tends to be a gap between
rows of stitches, so that the filled area has a striped
look.
