Like the Open Fishbone Stitch, the Leaf Stitch is used to fill a small shape with an open weave pattern. Always stitch from a center line to the outer edge, as show in this drawing.

After the shape is stitched, often a border of Outline Stitch or Chain Stitch is worked aroung the edge.
