The Blanket Stitch can make a lovely pinwheel, or stylized flower.

Draw a circle on the fabric with a pencil or washable fabric marker. Start on the outside of the circle. Make a Blanket Stitch from the center of the circle to the perimeter, moving over slightly (figure 1). Continue making Blanket Stitches all around the circle. When you get to the last stitch, don't make a Blanket Stitch. Instead, thread the needle under the first stitch and insert the needle down at the center (figure 2).
