Here's a pretty rose you can make with the Blanket Stitch.

Start the rose with a circle of Blanket Stitches. Keep the loops loose, but even (Step 1). The last stitch in the circle should be tucked under the first stitch (Step 2). Stitch a second circle of looped Blanket Stitches inside the first (Step 3). Continue stitching circles in to the center. Fill the center with a French Knot.
