SIX-CABLE FLOWERETTE

A Flowerette made with 6 Cable Stitches is more commonly used than the Four-Cable Flowerette. There are several different ways to make this stitch.

Method 1 : Slightly above the center of the flowerette, stitch 3 Cable Stitches across the 4 pleats (a Down, an Up, and a Down Cable). Plunge the needle down between pleats #3 and #4 and turn your work upside-down. Bring the needle back up between pleats #3 and #4, but slightly above the center line, and pass the needle to the left through pleat #4. Make 3 more Cable Stitches (Down, Up, and Down). Plunge the needle down in the valley between pleats #1 and #2 and tie off.

Method 2 : Stitch the first 3 Cable Stitches as before, but finish the 3rd stitch by passing the needle through all 4 pleats, angling the needle slightly so that you exit the left side of pleat #1 slightly below the center line, in position to stitch the second row. Stitch and Up, a Down, and an Up Cable. Plunge the needle down into the valley between pleats #3 and #4 and tie off.

Hints:
  • Fill the center with a French Knot over two pleats, in a contrasting color floss
